South Africa, Exclusive - Breathtaking Victoria Falls To The Beauty Of Cape Town
Begin your journey by flying via Johannesburg to Livingstone, Zambia . Here you will be transferred to the luxurious Royal Livingstone Hotel for two nights. Watch the hippos bathing in the river from the vantage point of your veranda, explore the area around the spectacular Falls and maybe take a helicopter excursion - "Flight of the Angels" (not included in this price).
You then fly to Durban via Johannesburg, collect a luxury standard car and drive 35 minutes along motorway class roads to spend two nights at Zimbali Lodge which is situated close to the Indian Ocean and has wonderful facilities including a rated 18 hole golf course.
It is then a 3 hour drive to the spectacular Cathedral Peak Hotel which although rated lower than the other hotels in this package, offers, in our view, one of the most spectacular settings in South Africa.
You will stay here for 2 nights in a luxurious, thatched suite with breathtaking views of the Drakensberg Mountains. Accommodation here is on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis. A 2 1/2 hour drive will take you back to Durban Airport for a short flight to Port Elizabeth.
From here you will collect your car and drive 1 hour to Shamwari Private Game Reserve which, in our view has some of the finest game viewing in South Africa. Accommodation is in luxurious tents although alternative lodge accommodation in one of their camps can be arranged. You will stay here of an all inclusive two nights before driving for 45 minutes to stay at Woodall Country House.
This is a different experience but one that will innevitably feature food! Woodall is a part of 'The Good Cooks of South Africa and their Country Houses' collection but in addition to fine food and wines you may like to be pampered in their wellness centre, participate in a game drive into the nearby Addo National Park or just sit and relax by an excellent pool.
From here it is a 3 1/2 hour drive to Plettenberg Bay which is the heart of The Garden Route. You will stay for 3 days in the exclusive Plettenberg Bay Hotel which has sweeping views of this exceptional bay. Bustling Knysna is a 20 minute drive the Tsitsikamma Forest is 45 minutes away and Oudtshoorn (ostriches and the Cango Caves) are only an 1 1/2 drive. The drive to the Cape Winelands will take you around 5 hours along excellent roads and here you will stay at Franschhoek Country House Hotel which small and exclusive and, again, with an excellent reputation for its fine cuisine. Accommodation here is for 3 nights on a B&B basis because we feel you may also want to try some of the numerous superb restaurants in the area.
A 45 minute drive will take you to leafy Constantia to spend 4 nights at The Cellars Hotel. This is ,in our view, one of the finest in South Africa and is conveniently located just 20 minutes from the centre of Cape Town and Table Mountain, right by the Constantia Wine Route, 5 minutes from the extraordinary Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden and within 1 40 minute drive of the Cape of Good Hope and the Cape Point Nature Reserve.
To complete your experience you will take The Blue Train overnight from Cape Town to Pretoria experiencing a quality of travel that is rare today with fine food and wines to match. You will be met at Pretoria for a tour of the city and, if time allows, part of Johannesburg before your late evening flight back from Johannesburg. Accommodation is for 21 nights.
